According to TMZ.com, Rodney Atkins was arrested last month in Tennessee for domestic assault after allegedly trying to smother his wife with a pillow.

According to her, they got in a big fight in front of their 10-year-old son, Elijah.

Rodney was hauled to jail where he was booked and released on $2,500 bail.

In his defense, Rodney says his wife is lying, and his lawyer is calling the incident nothing more than an "unfortunate verbal dispute."

WOW!  I am just sick to my stomach.  I met Rodney, Tammy and Elijah a couple of years ago at a festival and they seemed like the perfect couple. Rodney and Elijah were playing baseball backstage with the rest of the band.  I just hope that everything gets worked out with minimal damage to the kids.
