The introduction of summer at Oval Beach in Saugatuck, Michigan

by Dan Cash

Earlier this week I decided to take a brief stop off at Oval Beach in Saugatuck following my final appointment of the day.  It was 75 degrees, sunny about 5:30pm and there weren't more than 15 or 20 people on the beach.  Most were simply walking their dogs or enjoying a nice late spring day on the beach in Michigan.

The water on May 16th was still ice cold but it looked so great after such a long winter.

As usual the view into the distance was amazing on Oval Beach.  For some reason the sun always seems to hit the water differently on that beach.

Here's another shot looking the other direction as the waves crash into the shore.

It's just a piece of drift wood but I found it kind of cool just sitting in the sun on the beach.

One of the best times of year in Michigan is when it's warm enough to go to the beach but not quite warm enough for tourist to overrun it.  You can go to the Atlantic Ocean or the Pacific Ocean and it's an amazing thing to see but there is simply nothing like Lake Michigan in the summer.
