Researchers found that people who have ‘severe sleep disordered breathing’ were almost five times more likely to develop cancer.

Even people with moderate sleep disordered breathing were at double the risk, and just having a slight problem increased a person’s risk of cancer by ten percent.

Soldier in Afghanistan saves puppy Posted May 22, 2012 by Nikki Montgomery

Puppy saved from torture in Middle East reaches new home in Pensacola: fox10tv.com

Army Staff Sergeant Nick B. was on patrol in Afghanistan when he found Bodhi, an Afghan herding dog, tied up and covered in mud. His ears and half of his tail had been cut off.

He says, "They were going to use him to fight other dogs as entertainment. You could just tell he hadn't been fed properly. He was really skinny and malnourished. When I saw that, it just broke my heart. I knew I had to get this dog out of here."

Nick says the damage to one of Bodhi's ears was so significant, scarring left him deaf. An operation was needed to open the dog's ear back up.

Nick says the owners didn't want to give him the dog, so he traded packs of cigarettes for him.

He said Bodhi instantly bonded with his unit.

Nick got in touch with the Puppy Rescue Mission, an organization that helps save animals from terrible conditions, to help him get Bodhi to the U.S.

Now, Bodhi's new life can begin.

Nick says, "It's so much better knowing I saved this dog from a life of eating scraps of trash and not knowing if he's going to be shot. I know his life will be so much better now. He'll have a lot of land to run around on, a pool to play in, a loving family, and he'll be fed properly and bathed. It's an amazing feeling."

Playing with your kids toys Posted May 17, 2012 by Nikki Montgomery

Jack's toyBryan's son, Jack, just turned 7 and he bought an $80 lego ship for himself with his birthday money. Bryan and Addi helped Jack start putting it together and talked Jack into allowing them to finish it after he want to bed.

When Jack woke up he was excited that he got to play with it right away.

Isn't putting it together the fun part?

Mia ToyNikki opened a new toy for Mia and put it together. Then she started playing with it to show Mia how to do it. Nikki sent each of the three animals down the slide and Mia didn't really care. She wasn't quite tall enough to play with it the way she was supposed to. She found the dangling monkey and that was enough for her.

Nikki had fun playing with it though.

Do your kids have toys that you enjoy playing with?

Jennifer Lopez is leaving American Idol Posted May 17, 2012 by Nikki Montgomery

j loJennifer Lopez is leaving “American Idol” after the season.

Sources say J-Lo is leaving because she has too much going on in her life with her tour, working on a new album and several film projects in the future.

Allegedly, J.Lo regrets she can't stay on the show because it's been an incredible experience.

Lopez joined “Idol” as a judge in 2010.

Story

My thoughts: Well the show helped reload her career so now she's just to busy to do it. Some people may be upset about that, but in radio we're in the self promotion business so I can't say I see any fault in her decision. I wonder what she'll do the next time her career starts to get stale though. I don't think another platform like Idol will be waiting to pay her $20 million dollars for wearing super sexy outfits, crying, and talking about getting "goosies".

Miranda likes her big butt Posted May 16, 2012 by Nikki Montgomery

Miranda Lambert graces the June cover of Self magazine.

Some of the interview highlights:

-- "I'm a small-town girl. When you're famous, whoever you were before comes out more. So if you were an ass, you'll be even more of an ass."

-- “I don’t care about being stick-thin. I don’t want stuff to jiggle. Really skinny actresses make me hungry. I see them and think, Honey, you need to eat! I’m lucky I don’t have to live like that. I feel my best when I’m a toned, not flabby, size 8. Women come up to me and say, ‘You’re beautiful and confident,’ and that makes me feel I can be, too.”

-- She “absolutely hates exercise,” but that she does it anyway to appease her trainer. She admits:  “I love it afterward, of course. But my trainer is so nice, I want to do push-ups to please him!”

-- “I always scarf down food after a show. But now, instead of eating a burger, I’ll have a grilled-chicken salad waiting for me. And except for almonds and bananas, I don’t keep snacks on the bus. I don’t want Cheetos anywhere around me.”

-- “I won’t give up what I enjoy to look perfect. I want to find a happy medium between feeling good about my body and still having a beer and some barbecue.”

-- “I drink Bacardi. My trainer, Bill, approves. I mean, he’d rather me not drink, but that’s not an option.”

--Miranda’s favorite part of her body? Her butt. “I don’t mind having a big butt. I actually like that about myself.”

The new issue of Self is on newsstands now.
