Nikki's Thinkin'

  • Magazines Airbrushing

    Posted by Nikki Montgomery

Kourteny KardashianToday I'm thinking about all these magazines that make us want to be thinner and prettier. Maybe we just need a little airbrushing!

Kourtney Kardashian is the latest celebrity to be the victim of magazine airbrushing. OK! Magazine put her on the cover this week claiming she already lost the pounds she put on while pregnant with son Mason. "They doctored and Photoshopped my body to make it look like I have already lost all the weight, which I have not," she told WWD. She also took to her Twitter page, writing, "One of those weeklies got it wrong again...they didn't have an exclusive with me. And I gained 40 pounds while pregs, not 26...But thanks!"

Recently this issue has come up with Demi Moore missing a portion of her hip in a magazine photo. We all know that airbrushing is common practice in the mags, but these ladies don't need it!

How I met your motherToday I'm thinking about how much I love the show "How I Met Your Mother," but do I love it enough to see Carrie Underwood give up her music career for the sitcom?

Carrie Underwood has declared via her blog that she's moving on to the greener pastures of Hollywood after filming her guest appearance on CBS's "How I Met Your Mother." Carrie writes, "I have officially decided that I'm giving up the music business. I'm going to become a professional sitcom actress!"

Don't worry she adds, "LOL! Just kidding!" However, Carrie says she really had "a blast" with the cast and crew of the hit sitcom. She notes, "[They] made me feel right at home and were super nice and great with me and my lack of experience." The new actress also reveals some details about her guest stint, "I got to hang out with the whole cast, dress up like a flight attendant, place a cavewoman, and had a baby pig poop on me...jealous?" Carrie explains, "I think I was the only one who knew how to hold [it] and wasn't afraid of a little piglet!"

The episode of "How I Met Your Mother" featuring Carrie Underwood is set to air in March.

  • Fairytale Home

Taylor SwiftToday I'm thinking about Taylor Swift's unbelievable imagination. Her mind must be going a million miles a minute all the time.

Taylor's new Nashville condo is still under renovation, and when she finally gets to move in , it will be her fairytale dream place. She tells Rolling Stone magazine, "It's going to be my fantasy world. There's a pond in the living room... The pond is a moat around the fireplace and may possibly have koi fish in it." Taylor explains that there's a stepping stone in the pond in order to get on a spiral staircase, which takes you up to the observatory. She elaborates, "They're delivering a human-size birdcage, which I'll put a brass telescope in. The ceiling of my living room is painted like the night sky."

What a strange home this creative young lady is going to have. It raises the question: If you had all the money in the world what strange or unique thing or things would you have in your home?

I've always wanted a Swiss Family Robinson home.

  • Keith says Yes Toby says No

keith urbanToday I'm thinking about what Keith Urban said during his acceptance speech at The People's Choice Awards, "I don't even care if you guys download my music illegally. I really don't care." Keith was just happy people were hearing his music.

CMT Insider recently asked Toby Keith about his comments and Toby made it clear that he disagrees with Keith Urban. He said that songwriters need to be able to protect their copyrights and offers this example: "So, you come to this town and you write. For 20 years, you work at Spaghetti Warehouse and you bus tables, and all of the sudden you're 38 years old, and you've been here 18 years, and a all the sudden you write a song and Keith Urban goes and records it. And it's a smash. You get paid on that. If everybody downloads it for free, you don't get paid on that. So all you become is unpaid."

Toby adds, "You've offered a treasure, a piece of history to the public and they're using it to dill their dancehalls and fill their dance floors and listen to the music in their car. Put it on their iPods and all that. And if it is all for free, this guy is still at Spaghetti Warehouse. He gets nothing for it. Keith Urban gets paid. They guy at the bar that plays his music to pack the dance floor gets paid. So artists get paid because they go to work and sell the t-shirts, but the songwriter won't get paid. That's the guy you have to protect."

Personal side note: Radio stations pay rights for songs to the songwriter. The bill that government will keep trying to pass will require radio stations to also pay the performer. That will put radio stations out of business and the songwriters will lose out on that income too.

  • American Idol

EllenToday I'm thinking about American Idol and how the closer it gets the more excited I am to see Ellen. Ellen wasn't part of the auditions they had celebrity guest judges to sit in for those. Ellen will be there for Hollywood week though and I can't wait to see how she does.

Though Paula will be greatly missed at least by me and a handful of other people. There are a lot of people excited about Ellen being the 4th judge to replace Paula.

Martina McBride is weighing in Ellen DeGeneres' new job as a judge on American Idol. She tells an Ontario radio station, "I think Ellen is going to be great for the show. She's a music fan, obviously. She's gonna bring a different dimension to it, and I think she's gonna be great. It was a really smart move - for her and for the show." Martina was not so enthusiastic about how Simon Cowell's impending departure after this season will be received by the viewers of the Fox program. She comments, "He's a huge part of the show. It won't be the same without him, for sure."

It sure won't, but I hope they find a really good replacement like they did for Paula to make it all OK. We'll survive and American Idol will survive with out him I think.

  • Reba on tour with the King of Country Music

    Posted by Nikki Montgomery

RebaToday I'm thinking about Reba on tour with the King of Country Music. Reba will hit the road with fellow country music superstar George Strait for their 2010 tour with opener Lee Ann Womack. Reba says when it comes to selecting who she wants to share the bill with it's pretty simple. She says, "Yeah, I toured with Brooks & Dunn for four years and there's a reason why we kept going back and doing more tours - we like each other." Reba adds, "That's who you want to hang out with. You don't want to hang out with people that you don't get along with." The first show for Reba and George will be Friday in Baltimore, Maryland. Sorry no dates announced for WI yet.

  • Conan VS Jay

    Posted by Nikki Montgomery

Today I'm thinking that we should just set up a cage match between Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien to decide who gets the Tonight Show. This thing is getting crazy! Now celebs are taking sides.

    Team Jay:

    • Jerry Seinfeld
    • Paul Reiser

    Team Conan:

    • Ricky Gervais
    • Matthew Perry
    • Patton Oswalt
    • Ice T
    • David Letterman
    • Christina Applegate
    • Rosie O'Donnell
I think Team Conan wins on sheer numbers. I just decided that it might actually be funnier to put Rosie and Seinfeld into the cage match to duke this one out.
Oh, sorry I was imagining the hilarity.
Rosie told reporters that Leno should just step aside and give Conan his due. "If you're privileged enough to drive the bus, you should say, 'Thank you' and drive it to the best of your ability, and when it's time for them to hire a new driver, you should say 'Thank you for allowing me to drive this as long as I did' and pass the keys to the new guy with red hair, and not try to flatten his tires before he even gets going."
Here's the latest on the saga: reports that Conan is close to a deal with NBC that will not only give him a payout to leave the Tonight Show, it will also allow him to appear on another network before his contract expires. Sources say Conan could be getting as much as $40 million, although he's going to have to agree not to badmouth NBC. In addition, sources say a sticking point for Conan is his staff. Many of them moved coasts to work on the show, and that Conan wants to be sure they're taken care of. Meanwhile, NBC exec Dick Ebersol told the New York Times that Conan was to blame for all his problems with the program. Ebersol called Conan's stint on the Tonight Show an "astounding failure," and says he met with Conan three weeks before the June premiere to give him advice on how to expand his audience, but Conan ignored him. "I like Conan enormously personally," said Ebersol. "He was just stubborn about not being willing to broaden the appeal of his show."

tim and faithToday I'm thinking about couples in Country Music. Of course the first couple that jumps to everyone's mind is Tim and Faith. Wonder how two super star country singers/performers can make it work? Balancing marriage, family, career and touring? I do.

Blake and Miranda are another awesome couple in country music and Miranda has an answer. She has been answering some fan emails and one asked this question. Miranda responded, "When not on the road, we're just normal people who like a lot of the same, hunting and sitting on the couch. It helps to live in a little town where people just know you as the girl next door."

Another fan asked her about the business. She said, "This may sound strange, but in country music a lot of artists are very supportive of one another, yes it's competitive, but truly, it's just like a large family. There is room for all kinds of artists and as a group we make up a pretty diverse spectrum."

With Carrie Underwood recently engaged and planning to tie the knot with hockey star boyfriend Mike Fisher this summer and Sarah Buxton announcing her recent engagement it makes you wonder if Miranda and Blake might be the next to march down the aisle.

Tiger Woods' wife focusing on kids

Elin Nordegren's daily decisions are focused on what's good for herself and her children, says a PEOPLE source.

While Woods continues to avoid the public, wife Elin Nordegren has been out with the kids

People who have seen her have noted that she was "nice and friendly," during her interactions

While Nordegren has been about, Tiger Woods continues to suspend his golf career

    Celebrity News

( -- While Tiger Woods has remained out of sight, his wife Elin Nordegren has been stepping out in recent days in the Orlando, Florida, area with their two children, Sam and Charlie.

"Elin's daily decisions rest on what is good for her and the children," a source told PEOPLE.

After returning from a European skiing trip over the holidays, she has been taking turns with a nanny shuttling Sam, 2, to a private school in Windermere.

Then on Friday, Nordegren -- bundled up against the unusually cold temperatures in Florida -- stopped by the Tiger Woods promotional office in Windermere Village for about 15 minutes, bringing along Sam and Charlie, 11 months.

"Elin was nice and friendly and said hello to people," a source in a neighboring office told PEOPLE. "She looked fine."

Another source saw Elin and Charlie the same day enter a building in a shopping complex that looked like a school activities club filled with boxes and toys. "Elin was there for a good hour and a half," the source said.

Woods, meanwhile, has yet to be seen in public since the sex scandal broke and has suspended his professional golf career.

Mel Gibson guilty of his own "indiscretions" says "I feel sorry for Tiger Woods," he tells The Mail. "Why are we talking about this when we're sending 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan? You've got this history-changing event going on and we're talking about Tiger's private life and golf injuries. He's being used as a diversion and it just drives me crazy. You come out savaged. I just think, 'Who cares?'" It is no secret that Mel can sympathize with Tiger, "When all is said and done I did a pretty good hatchet job on my marriage," he said. "I'm to blame, if you're inclined to judge."

  • American Idol Tomorrow!!

    Posted by Nikki Montgomery

Today I'm thinking about American Idol. Idol fans are you excited? Tomorrow starts the two night premiere on Fox. Carrie Underwood tells ET that she'll be watching, "I will always have just the biggest love for American Idol, as a participant and as a fan. Now it's so crazy for me to watch and think, 'Oh, my gosh. I was on that show.' But I love the people. I love to go back and talk to the contestants and I vote, too, just like everybody else."

Carrie even reveals her favorites from last season, "I was one of those that really liked Kris Allen. He seemed really genuine and he was from my neck of the woods. I used to do a few shows here and there in Conway, Arkansas. So it was cool to see-not a hometown boy, because it was still a four-hour drive-but [a contestant] from my neck of the woods. I love Danny Gokey, too. I thought he was just the sweetest person. I've gotten to know him a little bit and he's hanging out in Nashville now, so, hopefully, he'll be done with his stuff and be on his way because I think he's really sweet."

I loved Danny Gokey too and I'm super excited his first single is on country radio! I can't wait to see what comes out of this season.

Rumor has it that this will be Simon's last season and that Piers Morgan from America's Got Talent has his eye on the chair.

You may have heard that changes are coming to America's Got Talent's judges panel too get more information on the Behind the Mic Blog.

  • American Idol Tuesday

    Posted by Nikki Montgomery

Today I'm thinking about American Idol starting on Tuesday night. This could be Simon's last season! I can't even imagine the show without him. It can survive without Paula, but Simon? I'm not so sure. Rumor has it that if Simon bails on the show Piers Morgan from America's Got Talent, AKA the mean British guy that beat Trace Adkins in Celebrity Apprentice, might be interested in taking his place. That would probably kill that America's Got Talent show because The Hoff is rumored to be leaving that show too!!

Anyway getting back to American Idol another person from the show is going country, but this time it's not a contestant it's one of the judges. Songwriter Kara DioGuardi sat down for a songwriting session in Nashville with Darius Rucker! Kara tells Billboard that writing a country song is a real challenge for her and that's a good thing. She says, "Country is lyrically heavy in a way that pop music isn't. It really tests me. It makes me go back to songwriting 101. I'm very drawn to the genre because I feel like I've become a better writer by going down there, and I'm always learning in the sessions." While she was in town she also teamed up with Rascal Flatts and Dierks Bentley to write.

Kara has written some major hits for some major pop stars so I'm excited to hear what she has come up with for some of our favorite country stars.

Comment question: Do you think American Idol will survive with out Simon?

Do you think Piers would be a good replacement for Simon?

If so what do you think will happen to America's Got Talent sans Piers and Hoff?

    Carrie Underwood1/7/2010

Today I'm thinking about Carrie Underwood winning Favorite Country Artist at the People's Choice Awards last night.

Upon receiving the award she said, "Obviously, a great 2009 for me, and that was because of my fans. Thank you so much for voting . It's going to be an even better 2010."

Well of course it is! Not only is she getting married, but she's embarking on new projects. She will be adding actress to her resume. People magazine reports that Carrie will be making her acting debut on an upcoming episode of "How I Met Your Mother" featuring fellow People's Choice Award winner for best actress in a comedy series Alyson Hannigan. Carrie will be playing Tiffany, an enigmatic pharmaceutical sales rep and love interest for Ted, in an episode scheduled to air in March on CBS.
