  • Danny Gokey's new CD in stores

Today I'm thinking about picking up Danny Gokey's debut CD. I was a huge fan of the Wisconsinite when he was on American Idol last season. Making all the way to the final 3! Today his debut album, "My Best Days" hits stores.

Danny says, "I translate it as a soulful country - soulful, emotional, positive, fun country album."

Danny has found the transition from American Idol to Country Music artist to be an easy one.

He will be returning to the American Idol stage to perform his debut single, "My Best Days Are Ahead Of Me" on Thursday night.

  • Carrie on TV Tonight

Carrie Underwood is making her first sitcom appearance tonight on 'How I Met Your Mother" at 7pm on CBS.

She wasn't as nervous as you'd think. She says, "They knew my limited acting experience so I don't think anybody was holding out these high expectations for me. If anything I think they were pleasantly surprised, so they probably had pretty low expectations of me when I walked in."

She'll be playing Ted's love interest so your keyword is "TED" for 250 points.

  • Ellen VS Simon

Rumors that Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres aren't getting along on American Idol just won't go away. The bad blood started when Ellen rearranged her schedule in order to be on time for Idol's first week, only to wait an hour for Simon to show up. Well, things have only gotten worse. Sources say Ellen isn't happy about how cruel Simon is towards contestants, and Simon takes pleasure in annoying her. Sources say the two don't even try to hid their distaste for one another, and the conflict is the reason Ellen's judging seat was moved from next to Simon to the opposite end of the table.

She has made jokes about their relationship. Saying the reason why there is tension between them is because he has a crush on her.

  • Susan Boyle "Wild Horses"

Today I'm thinking about how much I dislike Adam Lambert a little more each day.

Adam Lambert slammed Susan Boyle saying that her debut single, the cover of the Rolling Stones' "Wild Horses" made him "cry with laughter."

Adam sold 200,000 copies during the first week of his album "For Your Entertainment's" release, but as we all know Susan Boyle's "I Dreamed A Dream" shattered sales records with it's massive success. He told Britain's Gay Times: "If only it weren't for Susan Boyle! I'm happy for her success, but that album is terrible. 'Wild Horses' is the one that made me laugh the hardest. I just died when I heard it, I was crying with laughter. It was the most horrendous, sacrilegious treatment of that song!"

What a jerk!! The guy just doesn't know when to stop!

Fortunately there are a lot of other people in the music business who respect Susan Boyle for the talent she is. Including Dolly Parton who told the Daily Mail "Would I like to duet with her? Sure, if she'd have me. But all those long notes she does, I don't think I could keep up with her."

  • American Idol Top 24

    2/24/10

AI top 24Today I'm thinking about 3 nights in a row of American Idol! We are down to the top 24 now, the girls performed last night, the guys will perform tonight and Thursday is the results show.

The girls have been predicted to be strong this year and the judges all seem to feel that this is a girl's year to win which would be nice since we've seen guys win the last two years.

After their performances last night it's hard to say which two ladies will be saying their goodbyes, but in my personal opinion the three weakest ladies last night were Janell, Haeley and Lacey.

Last night was the first live show of the season and the first ever for Ellen. It was good though. A few little glitches, but nothing big. Ryan is the captain of the ship so if things start getting out of control he needs to work with them or fix them on the spot and be smooth about it. He said, "If I feel like I'm losing control, I will toss to commercial so then I get the last word." You don't think that he might be referring to Simon's jibber jabber do you?

Tonight the guys hit the stage I'm interested to see what they've got. I don't have any favorites yet it's far too early for that.

Thursday is the first live results show. 17 year old American Idol season 8 finalist (4th) Allison Iraheta will perform her latest single "Scars" from her debut album "Just Like You". Then 2 guys and 2 girls will be headed home.

  • Lindsay discusses drugs

lindsayToday I'm thinking about Lindsay Lohan and how damaged she is. Remember when she was just that adorable little girl in Disney's remake of "Parent Trap"? I thought she had such a bright future back then.

Lindsay Lohan is finally opening up about the addictions that have lead to the demise of her career. In an interview with The Sun, Lindsay says she turned to drugs to help her forget her personal problems, especially issues she had with her dad Michael. "When my father was going public, that's when I hit rock bottom. I abused substances too much and it wasn't the answer to my problems," said Lindsay. "I tried to mask my problems with alcohol, cocaine, and mind-altering substances. Now I'm in a place where I don't need to use anything and I feel emotions because I choose to." Lindsay says her father abused cocaine, "I was terrified of it, but I tried it because I was stubborn, stupid and wanted to see what it was like." Lindsay has been to rehab three times and says that her first attempt to get clean came after she took the sleeping aid Ambien, which caused her to collapse in the bathroom and woke up to an overflowing tub. at that point she called her therapist and said, "Can I just go somewhere for a month? I'm around bad people and I need to take care of myself." Lindsay claims to be clean and sober now, and swears she's learned from her previous mistakes. "I never want to be close to losing everything I worked for and aspired to have my whole life," she said. "I've made some dreadful mistakes but learned from them-that has probably saved my life."

  • Radio Tax

    Posted by Nikki Montgomery

    2/22/2010

Today I'm thinking about the radio performance tax again. Really can't stop thinking about it because I am in danger of losing my job so I need to consider other careers just in case this thing passes.

I don't understand why the record labels want to push this law through so badly. They get so much promotion from radio stations playing their music. If this radio performance tax passes radio stations will have to go off the air and those that do stay on the air will not be able to afford to keep live airstaff. The only choices for music the consumer will have will be the top selling formats of HOT country and top 40. In those formats you won't hear any new artist because no one will pay to take the chance on a new artist when established artists are sure to be hits. Record sales will continue to decline because people won't be familiar with new artists and some genres won't sell because people won't be exposed to their music via radio. Concert ticket sales will suffer because there won't be a venue to promote them. So this tax will not benefit the record labels, the artists and will certainly make it impossible for new artists to break out unless they are on American Idol and radio as we know it would die.

When we go to the record companies and say that this will kill radio because we can't afford to pay this tax their answer is "raise advertising rates." Then what happens is that businesses have to raise their prices to cover the additional ad costs and the consumer will suffer by being forced to pay higher prices for goods and services.

It is a trickle down affect and it is going to effect everyone if this passes. Visit our home page to find out what you can do to help keep radio the way it is.

There are many artists that are in favor of this bill, but there are some that understand that radio is an important part of what they do.

When asked if commercial success still motivates her Martina McBride says, "I don't think about it. You do want to be played on the radio; that's part of the dream, to hear yourself on the radio. That's a pretty cool feeling."

So even to the established artists record spins on the radio is the goal. Why would they let their labels take that feeling away from them?

I don't see the pay off for anyone in this situation, do you?

  • No apologies

Today I'm thinking about the song "Hillbilly Bone", Blake Shelton's latest hit featuring Trace Adkins. Blake tells the Express-News, "Everybody's got a little bit of country in them. Everybody's a little redneck. But [the song] mostly focuses on that no matter who you are or where you live or what you do, there should be something about country music that you can relate to." With a single that celebrates being who you are, Shelton adds that he doesn't apologize for the way he is. He explains, "I never claimed to be anybody other than the guy that likes to go deer hunting and mean, I love to drink and my language could use some work, but I'm that guy. If you don't like that guy or understand him, then you probably shouldn't be listening to my records." But, Blake admits that with being in the public eye, you're gonna face some criticism. He says, "you're really subjecting yourself to everybody's opinion and everybody's politics. Everything you say, whether it's in an interview or on a record, people are going to love you for it and there's going to be a group out there that hates you for it." Shelton continues, "But for the group that hates me for those things, my response is always: 'Well, ya'll can kiss my ass."

Gotta love Blake...or hate him or whatever!

  • Haitian Adoption Rumors

    2/15/10

AngelinaToday I'm thinking about all the rumors surrounding Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. First they're having another baby, then they're splitting up, then they're staying together, now rumor has it they're adopting another child from Haiti!

Angelina Jolie has put the kibosh on rumors she's planning to adopt a Haitian orphan. CNN's Christine Amanpour asked Jolie about the rumors, and she replied, "I'm always open to children around the world. We're that kind of family. Brad and I talk about that." But then she added, "But that's not what we're focusing on at this time, by any means. We're not here for that. We're here to see how we can help protect the children in country and scale up the needs here."

I just can't imagine what it would be like to be one of the children Brangelina chose to adopt. What do you think it would be like to be one of the power couple's kids? (comment below)

carrieToday I'm thinking about Carrie and her dog Ace. Carrie Underwood and her dog, Ace, have teamed up with her "Play On" tour sponsor Pedigree to shoot a public service announcement as part of the dog food company's adoption drive. According to Nashville Gab, Carrie told Pedigree at the shoot, "I can't imagine life without my dog. Dogs are just beautiful souls that don't want a thing from you." She explained that Ace is, "just so special because he loves me for no reason other than I love him back," adding, "He's smart and he's fun, and makes me really appreciate the little things in life because he is a little thing."
