Today I'm thinking that my vote really doesn't matter on American Idol! I'm so incredibly frustrated with the fact that Tim Urban is still on the show!! I did predict that Didi Benami would be in the bottom 3, but she didn't deserve to go home! Not with Tim still in the competition. The boy is bad and he doesn't get any better from week to week. I totally understand Simon's frustration!
So far I'm disappointed in the results shows. At the beginning of the season all anyone including the judges could talk about was how good the girls were. They kept saying this is going to be a girl's year and since reaching the top 12 only girls have gone home! I will say that the guys have improved a lot with the exception of Tim Urban of course.
Tension between Ryan and Simon continued last night. Simon is very good at making Ryan seem like a child. Ryan asked him what I thought to be an appropriate question asking him to lend advice to Aaron about how to connect with the song and Simon came back with a quip about this not being the Oprah show! Later he said, “Ryan, you are really starting to annoyme." In my opinion Ryan is always annoying, but it's OK for me to think that I wouldn't say that to him on national TV. I don't know if Simon thinks that adds an element to the show, but I don't. I see it as just an uncomfortable moment and I don't like it at all.
Today I'm thinking about Lee DeWyze rockin American Idol last night! I found this video of Lee DeWyze from a music video contest he entered in September, 2009.
Lee DeWyze Predicament Chicagoland's Best Music Videos
Recap of last nights show:
Usher was the mentor for R&B and Soul week. As you can imagine there are many contestants this year that would not qualify as R&B artists, but they gave it a good shot and Usher did a good job mentoring them.
Siobhan Magnus started the night on a sour note singing Chaka Khan's "Through the Fire". Randy thought it was rough, Ellen felt the performance was a bit off, Simon thought her vocals were all over the place. She usually does well so I don't know if this will be enough to put her in the bottom 3, but if it were just me and the judges voting she would be.
Casey James did a nice job with Sam & Dave classic, "Hold on I'm Coming." Randy thought it suited him, Ellen said it was a bit generic, Kara wants to see more vocal range, but Simon disagreed with the ladies and said he loved Casey's performance.
Michael Lynche chose to perform a ballad, "Ready for Love" by India Arie. Ellen and Kara both thought he did an incredible job, Simon said this was the performance where he took him seriously as an artist.
Didi Benami had an emotional breakdown while in her session with Usher. After she sang her song she started crying and had a hard time getting over it. The song triggered such an emotional reaction in her she was afraid to perform it and I think that hurt her when she took the Idol stage to sing, "What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted" by Jimmy Ruffin. Randy felt the performance flatlined, Kara thought it was confusing, Simon didn't like it either and took a stab at "Dancing with the Stars" in his critique. I think this poor performance my send Didi to the bottom 3, but I don't think she'll go home.
Tim Urban didn't do a very good job with Anita Baker's "Sweet Love." Randy thought it was boring, Ellen wonders why Tim chose that song, Kara tells Tim that he took the soul out of the song, Simon showed his frustration with Tim still being on the show by saying "I don't think it makes any difference whatsoever what we say. You know completely inappropriate song it was like a mouse picking a fight with an elephant. You know. You're not gonna win. But it doesn't matter because you're gonna smile, the audience is gonna vote for you, nobody cares and you'll be here next week. So well done." Tim will be in the bottom 3 again this week and should be the one to go home. We'll find out tonight if Simon was right about him staying though.
Andrew Garcia blew the judges away with "Forever" by Chris Brown. Ellen was happy that he had his comeback performance, Kara mentions how Andrew has taken a giant leap in the right direction, and Simon worries that he hasn't opened up enough to the audience.
Katie Stevens did a good job with "Chain of Fools" by Aretha Franklin. Better than I expected to be honest with you. Randy tells Katie she's a young Christina Aguilera, Ellen wishes she had picked a younger song, Kara agrees with Ellen and says that Katie belongs in Pop and R&B music, Simon disagrees with Kara saying Katie would fit better in rock or country and Kara and Simon begin to argue about which genre Katie should pick.
Lee DeWyze in my opinion was the best performance of the night with "Treat Her Like a Lady" by the Cornelius Brothers (listen below). Randy and Ellen have high praise for Lee, Simon is finally glad that Lee is beginning to believe in himself. Usher really helped Lee with this stage presence. It was good to see him looking comfortable and like he was enjoying himself.
Crystal Bowersox mentioned last week that she had a surprise brewing for this week's performance and boy did she ever! Not only did she follow Kara's advice and ditch the guitar, but she played the piano and wore heels!! Simon thought that since the piano isn't as comfortable an instrument to her that it detracted from her performance of "Midtown Train to Georgia." Ellen and Kara appreciated her taking a risk.
Aaron Kelly performed "Ain't No Sunshine" by Bill Withers which was good, but I think he needs to try something younger and more upbeat. Simon wasn't jumping out of his chair after Aaron's performance and Ellen though it was good. That's pretty much it for his comments. It thought it was a bit boring.
Tune into the American Idol Results show tonight on Fox.
Today I'm thinking about Stephanie Meyer's new book coming out! Good news for us Twihards!!
Little, Brown Books for Young Readers will release "The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner" on June 5 with $1 from each sale going to the American Red Cross.
The novella is told from the viewpoint of Bree, a newborn vampire who is part of Victoria's Army of newborns featured in the third installment in the Twilight Saga, "Eclipse."
On her official site, Meyer says she never intended to publish Bree Tanner as a stand-alone book. It was just something she’d started working on while she was still editing Eclipse. “I was thinking a lot about the newborns, imagining their side of the story, and one thing led to another.”
It came in handy during the filming of "Eclipse" each of the actors playing the newborns in Victoria's army read it before filming began.
Meyer liked the idea of the book becoming available to Twilight fans before the movie, "Eclipse" is in theaters so true fans can be introduced to Bree.
Stephanie Meyer considers this book a gift to fans which is why she has convinced her publishers to make it available free online from June 7 to July 5 at www.breetanner.com, which will also provide a link to the American Red Cross website where they can donate to support relief efforts in Haiti, Chile, and around the globe.
"Eclipse" will be in theaters on June 30th and girls you may not have to drag your guys there kicking and screaming. According to Kellen Lutz who plays Edward's brother Emmett this movie is "badass." “The action really drew me in and I think the guys are really going to like this movie,” Lutz says it's a lot more than the love story this time around.
Today I'm thinking about the future of American Idol.
As we know Simon Cowell will be leaving American Idol at the end of this year. Star magazine reports that producers are planning the end of the show after one more season. Execs just don't see the show carrying on without Simon. "Producers know Simon really makes the show and they feel they could go only one season with out him and the quality will suffer after that," said a source. Another insider claims Idol will run through 2012, "By that time, the show will have been on the air for more than a decade and the producers figure that's long enough."
Regardless of his decision to leave the show Simon Cowell still believes that American Idol is an important vehicle for people who have the potential to be stars, but can't get a record deal for some reason, "I mean, the idea of Carrie Underwood wandering around without a record deal is staggering when you look at what she's achieved and that's the importance of the show and it's the only reason. It's why we carry on making American Idol."
Today I'm thinking that Sandra Bullock should take her own advice.
At the People's Choice awards earlier this year Sandra Bullock told Insider's Niecy Nash what she would do if she were Tiger Woods' wife Elin Nordegren, "If I were Elin...man, I would have hit a lot more than she did...I would have kept hitting!" She added, "She [Elin] was respectable. I'd get the baseball bat. I'd get everything out."
Of course since her interview with Niecy Nash she found out that her hubby did in fact have an affair, but Sandra may have more in common with Elin Nordegren than she thinks! Turns out that as many as 11 women have claimed to have had affairs with Jesse James during his 5 year marriage to Sandra Bullock.
Two more have been named; Melissa Smith who tells Radar that Jesse was so upset that she sold her story he texted her on Wednesday, "I'm angry at you and disappointed you'd do this," and Brigitte Daguerre, a Los Angeles photographer and fetish model who says she has 195 emails and text messages as proof. A fourth yet-to-be-identified woman has hired lawyer Gloria Allred, who also represents Tiger's mistress Rachel Uchitel. The fourth mistress claims to have had an affair with James that lasted several years, and ended only recently and she has text messages and pictures to prove it. Allred describes the unidentified mistress as a "beautiful model and business woman."
Today I'm thinking about the ACMs coming up on April 18th.
The Academy of country Music Awards' Entertainer of the Year category has changed this year. It's still fan-voted like it has been the last couple of years, but there are now 8 nominees instead of 5.
Some of the nominees have been campaigning for your vote, but not Brad Paisley, "I'm uncomfortable campaigning - to be honest with you - because I don't like that part of it. I understand that people love to get involved and that's cool that they can. I just...vote for who you want. If you're happy with somebody's show last year and you had a great time vote for them. If that's me, that's great! If it's not, I will stand up and clap for whoever wins, you know?"
The seven other nominees for the ACM's Entertainer of the Year are Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith, George Strait and Taylor Swift, as well as Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban and Zac Brown Band. The ACM Awards will air April 18th on CBS live from Las Vegas.
Today I'm thinking about Crystal Bowersox's performance last night on Idol. She is awesome! She sang Janis Joplin "Me and Bobby McGee" (listen below) Randy loved how Crystal "slayed" her performance, Ellen wants to see Crystal connect more with the audience, Kara wants Crystal to put down the guitar and Simon disagrees. She was by far my favorite performance of the night.
As for the rest of the evening; Miley Cyrus was the mentor for the top 11 and she didn't do too bad. She made some pretty good suggestions I think.
Lee Dewyze opened the contest with "The Letter" by The Box Tops and I thought he did a pretty good job with it. I really like his voice, but I agreed with Miley when she mentored him she said he needs more confidence. Ellen compared Lee to her favorite pen which I didn't really understand, but I don't understand much of what she says when she goes into those long strange comparisons. Kara thought he raised the bar for himself. Simon thought it was corny.
If any of the other contestants were going to have a bad night last night was the night because there is no doubt that Paige Miles was the worst performance of the night. In fact I agreed with Kara when she said it was the worst vocal of the season. She sang Phil Collins classic "Against All Odds" and absolutely murdered it! Randy flat out said it was terrible and Ellen agreed. Do I even need to tell you what Simon thought of it?
Tim Urban sang Queen's "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" it was bad, but he's got to be safe because Paige was a million times worse! Randy said it was bad karaoke, Ellen thought it was an audition for "High School Musical," Kara agreed, and Simon just thought it was silly.
Aaron Kelly did a great job with yet another ballad "I Don't Want To Miss a Thing" Aerosmith. Ellen thought it was the perfect song choice, Kara praised his vocal performance even though he was sick and Simon says he has zero chance of going home. Well, pretty sure that's because it's obvious who should go home.
Michael Lynch AKA Big Mike sang "When a Man Loves a Woman" and Miley said she fell in love with him when he looked her right in the eyes and sang the whole song to her during their mentoring session. Ellen thought it was safe, Kara thought it was a bit boring and Simon wanted him to update the song.
Miley Cyrus convinced Andrew Garcia to take the stage without his guitar last night to free him up to perform. He sang Marvin Gaye's "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" and did move around the stage, but his performance wasn't great. That's OK though, because like I said if he was gonna have an off night that was the night to do it. Randy kept it simple saying it wasn't good, Kara can't get over his "Straight Up" performance, Simon tells Andrew he doesn't know what kind of artist he is.
Katie Stevens performed "Big Girls Don't Cry" by Fergie. Ellen called Katie the Dakota Fanning of American Idol, Kara thinks this is where Katie belongs in Pop/R&B, Simon thinks Katie still belongs in country music because the pop market is way too crowded.
Casey James did a great job on "The Power of Love" from "Back to The Future" by Huey Lewis and the News. Randy and Ellen both liked Casey's performance even thought they didn't like the song choice, Kara thinks Casey's ready to make an album, Simon thought he sounded like an 80's cover band.
Didi Benami sang "You're No Good" by Linda Ronstandt. I thought it was good, but I just really like Didi's voice. Ellen didn't like the song choice, Kara felt that Didi was playing a character during her performance, and Simon thought Didi's performance was like a bad musical.
Siobhan Magnus did Stevie Wonder's "Superstition," Randy loved how she "went for it" during her performance, Kara loves Siobhan's big notes, Simon thinks that Siobhan's performance will cause and even split among America.
The American Idol results show is on tonight on Fox with performances from Miley Cyrus, Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato. We'll find out who's going home and it better be Paige!! My prediction for the bottom three are Paige (obviously), Tim and Didi.
Lots of great talent has come to country music from American Idol and I think this season has a few contestants with country potential too. Remember when Rascal Flatts trashed Idol saying that artists that came from that show had it too easy? Lady Antebellum's Charles Kelley thinks Idol is a viable launching pad for artists. In a YouTube video he says, "Man, talent's talent. I mean, it's so hard to get a break. I think that show honestly is one of the greatest things. I truly do."
Today I'm thinking about the American Idol Mentor for tonight. Miley Cyrus is going to be mentoring the remaining 11 American Idol contestants. Not sure I'm very excited about that considering her recent comments about country music. She said when asked in an interview why she hasn't broken into the country scene, "It scares me, that's why. It feels contrived on so many levels. Unless you're wearing a cowboy hat and cowboy boots and singing and whining about your girlfriend or boyfriend leaving you it's not going to sell. I think that's why my dad finally got out of it. You have to wear those cowboy boots and be sweet as pie. It makes me nervous, the politics of it all." I just hope she doesn't pass her philosophy of country music on to those awesome contestants who could become country artists. And I hope she doesn't give any of the female contestants wardrobe suggestions or naughty dancing lessons.
It must be Disney teen week because Joe Jonas and his girlfriend Demi Lovato will perform on Wednesday's results show.
Conan O'Brien has been invited to be on American Idol this year however his contract with NBC is standing in the way. Fox has reportedly asked Conan O'Brien to host their Idol Gives Back special on April 21st. However, NBC says hosting the annual American Idol charity show would violate the terms of Conan's Tonight Show settlement which prohibits Conan from making TV appearances until May 1st.
Today I'm thinking about Jesse James again, but this is it! I am done after today.
Wondering how Sandra Bullock found her husband Jesse James cheated on her with a tattooed stripper? According to Popeater, she found out about it the same way we all did. In Touch magazine reportedly called Bullock's publicist to tell him they were running the interview with Jesse's mistress, Michelle McGee and her publicist broke the news to Sandra. By the end of that very day Sandra had moved out of the house and cancelled the UK premiere of The Blind Side. A friend of the Oscar winning actress said, "Sandra had no idea that all of this was going on. Not a clue. Now she is with family hoping for privacy. It's bad enough for any woman to find out that her husband has been cheating on her, but to find out from your publicist and then have it on the cover of a national magazine is heartbreaking."
The cover that broke Sandra's heart wasn't the only cover Michelle Bomshell McGee was gunning for. She intended to profit off of this affair with Jesse James all along it seems. People reports that three months ago, McGee posed for a photo spread in Tattoo Revue magazine, and lobbied for the cover, telling them, "I am going to be hot real soon."
It was most beneficial for her and her career of course to wait until after Sandra Bullock won the Oscar to reveal her affair with Sandra's husband. Since selling her story to In Touch her friends have decided to cash in too. Her former roommate Lindsay Sinai gave an interview to E! revealing that Jesse and Michelle's last fling was 8 months ago onboard the historic Queen Mary in Long Beach. A co-worker and best friend tells Radaronline that McGee feels betrayed by James, claiming that McGee was deceived because she really got the impression that Jesse and Sandra were living apart.
Michelle Bombshell's friends aren't the only ones speaking out about this situation. Jesse Jame's friends are also talking. One anonymous friend says he's furious at James for cheating on Sandra. "I know he's begging her for forgiveness, and I know he feels awful. He really does love her but he's just a pig," said one alleged friend. "Of course all these biker guys are the same. I've been hanging with them for years and they all mess around with dirty chicks-the dirtier the better-so I shouldn't be surprised." Keep in mind that before Sandra Jesse was married to a porn star. Sandra has been helped Jesse win full custody of his kids and raise them over the last 5 years, because his ex-wife and her new husband have both been in legal trouble.
We found out in recent days that Michelle Bombshell McGee has been dealing with a custody battle of her own with her ex. Apparently, Ronald Shane Modica, the father of McGee's 5 year old son Avery, was in court on Friday, attempting to get full custody of the child. He claims that ever since the story of the affair broke the paparazzi has been following them around and believes she is putting him in danger. The judge didn't agree and refused to change the terms of their custody agreement.
Today I'm thinking about Jesse James' vague apology to his family.
Sandra Bullock's husband Jesse James (Monster Garage/West Coast Choppers) issued a public apology for his alleged indiscretions with tattooed model Michelle "Bombshell" McGee. "The vast majority of the allegations reported are untrue and unfounded. Beyond that, I will not dignify these private matters with any further public comment," said James in a statement to People. "There is only one person to blame for this whole situation, and that is me. It's because of my poor judgement that I deserve everything bad that is coming my way. This has caused my wife and kids pain and embarrassment beyond comprehension and I am extremely saddened to have brought this on them. I am truly very sorry for the grief I have caused them. I hope one day they can find it in their hearts to forgive me."
Admit nothing apologize for everything. The truth is that anyone who had contact with Jesse could've said they were having an affair with him while Sandra was filming. Coincidently Michelle Bombshell ran to the media after Sandra accepts an Oscar for best actress. She's the biggest thing in Hollywood right now. If you're a skanky "model" who has had contact with Sandra Bullock's husband what an easy way to get famous. She initially said she has no proof of the affair, but today we find that McGee who reportedly got $30,000 to tell her story to In Touch magazine, claims to have text messages from Jesse.
Today I'm thinking about Sandra Bullock and Jesse James. I can't get it out of my head! I love love love both of them. Me being a motorcycle enthusiast have been a Jesse James fan for as long as I can remember. I have been a Sandra Bullock fan since I watched her in "Love Potion No. 9" in 1992! When the two hooked up I will admit that I thought it was a little bit of an opposites attract kinda thing, but the more I hear them talk about each other the more I think they were made for each other.
In Sandra's acceptance speech for best actress at the Golden Globes she thanked Jesse saying, "It is no surprise that my work got better when I met you, because I never knew what it felt like for someone to have my back so thank you."
And in her interview with Barbara Walters that aired right before the Oscars she had amazing things to say about him and their marriage.
Barbara Walters Oscar Special with Sandra Bullock talking career and marriage:
Now rumors are flying about Jesse James having an affair with this woman:
Michelle "Bombshell" McGee.
In Touch Weekly says the woman claims she's been carrying on an 11-month affair with Jesse James, after meeting him on Facebook. Michelle claims she sent Jesse a friend request, because she was interested in possibly modeling for his company, West Coast Choppers. Jesse then personally wrote her back, and after exchanging several emails, she met him at his San Diego garage where their affair started. When Michelle asked Jesse about his wife, he simply said, "she doesn't live here. She has a house in Austin. She is filming and I can't talk about it." Michelle said she assumed they were separated, so she decided to become "intimate" with Jesse. Their affair lasted about 5 weeks, with Michelle claiming she slept with Jesse about two to three times a week. Michelle has no proof of the affair.
A source tells People that Sandra has left the Los Angeles home she shares with Jesse James and yesterday she pulled out of next week's London premiere of The Blind Side. While Warner Bros. blamed "unforeseen personal reasons" for her absence.
I don't think it's true. I certainly hope it's not.
Today I'm thinking about Jessica Simpson's new show on VH1 called the "Price of Beauty". Jessica and her friends travel the world to see what is beautiful in different cultures.
Jessica has faced a lot of scrutiny because of her weight, her wits and her relationships. According to Billy Corgan from the Smashing Pumpkins, if we all knew her like he does we'd love her like he does. Perhaps in this new reality series we'll see more of the Jessica he loves.
On the premiere of the show Monday night on VH1 Jessica Simpson says, “There’s a lot of pressure to feel beautiful.” She adds, “There’s always a new diet to follow, a new product. But is that really what defines beauty?” She's embarking on this adventure to figure that out and hopefully find beauty in herself.
Any woman who has been ridiculed as much as Jessica would be questioning her own beauty. Media calling her fat and stupid, one failed relationship after another. A reason why this beautiful girl is on a hunt to find beauty I'm sure.
She said recently that she has a back up plan in case she doesn't find Mr. Right before she's 40. She says she'll have kids with her gay best friend Ken Paves who joins her in her trek across the world in her reality show "The Price of Beauty." In an upcoming episode he actually gets a Brazilian wax so he could see what women go through for the sake of beauty. He said that Jess had to help hold him down. He said, "It was the most painful and humiliating experience of my entire life."
