Today I'm thinking about my new favorite commercials. The new Kotex ads are so right on they crack me up! As a woman you understand, guys you don't care nor do you really want to hear about it, but even my husband thinks they're funny.

tim urbanToday I'm thinking about eating my words. For weeks I've been saying that Tim Urban needs to go home. I've been saying he can't sing and people only vote for him because he's cute (which he is).

Last night on American Idol Tim Urban sounded great! (check out the clip below) I actually voted for him for the first time this season! He usually gets torn apart by the judges, but last night he was praised by all of them. Ellen compared him to tequila, "Ya know Tim, the first time I took a shot of tequila I didn't know if I'd like it or not. Then I took another, and then I took another, then I took another and I really enjoyed it. That's how I feel about you." Ellen makes some of the strangest comments.

Though I liked Tim's performance very much my favorite performance of the night came from Lee DeWyze again. He's got such a great voice.

Crystal Bowersox was awesome again, but that's no surprise to me.

Casey James was solid, nothing fancy about his performance, but his vocals were good.

I'm so glad the judges saved Big Mike Lynche last week because he did a hauntingly beautiful version of "In The Ghetto" for Elvis night.

Siobhan Magnus just doesn't do it for me. I agree with the judges when they said her performance was confusing.

Aaron Kelley wasn't good last night. Last night's mentor Adam Lambert was impressed by Aaron's vocal ability, but pushed him out of his comfort zone and I think that hurt his performance because he just didn't believe in it.

Andrew Garcia is really struggling. I really liked him at first, but he's been trying so hard to get back to that "Straight Up" performance that it's dragging him down.

Two people need to go home tonight and I think it will be Andrew and Aaron, but a lot of people like Aaron because he's young so I may be wrong. I think Andrew for sure though. America does surprise me. We'll find out tonight on Fox.

Today I'm thinkin' what a load of crap! You feel bad now because everyone is calling you a home-wrecker (and worse), but while you were in there sleeping with the husband of America's Sweetheart Sandra Bullock you weren't feelin' so guilty were you Bombshell?

YUCK!! Sorry ain't gonna cut it. If I were Sandra I think I would've had a visceral reaction to this "apology."

  • Twist of Kate

    jon & kate

Today I'm thinking about Kate Gosselin's next reality show. Half of the parenting duo from "Jon and Kate Plus 8" has turned into quite the reality TV Diva. Kate is currently competing on "Dancing With The Stars," where she is making no friends. Once that wraps she'll be hot on the promotion trail for her upcoming TLC reality show "Twist of Kate."

Since their divorce it is no secret that Jon and Kate do not get along. Since Kate has been on "Dancing with the Stars" Jon claims that the show has made her an absentee mom and he even went so far as to say he is going to take Kate to court to sue for custody of their 8 children. However, a source recently told RadarOnline.com that Jon himself has gone weeks without seeing his children for no other reason than to spend time with his girlfriend.

He makes it sound on the surface like he's so concerned with the children, but some speculate that he's really just out of money. Kate is out there working to support her kids and he's gallivanting all over the country with his numerous girlfriends. I think he's jealous of Kate's continued success and he's trying to muck up her plans just like he did with the TLC reality show "Kate Plus 8" which he halted production on for fear that it would be bad for the children. Since TLC's lawsuit against Jon the series won't be airing, but expect some specials following Kate as a single mom which will include the children.

Kate's new reality show "Twist of Kate" will touch on her home life, but will be more focused on Kate as an example for other moms. She told the crowd during a press conference on Thursday that she is "excited" to "share with you the next chapter in my life." The show, which debuts on TLC this summer will follow the single mother, 35, as she raises her 8 children, as well as profile other women who are also in their own challenging situations. She said, "Every day I hear from women across the country who have incredible stories but are overwhelmed with their lives, asking me for advice on everything from potty training to organization." She adds, "So on my new show 'Twist of Kate,' I'm going to spend a few days in their lives experiencing their challenges first hand and lending a helping hand and maybe even some time off."

  • Tips for paying down debt

I found these tips for paying down debt and thought I'd blog again to share them with you.

credit cardHere's how to get out of debt, according to Stacy Johnson, author of the book "Life Or Debt: A One-Week Plan For A Lifetime Of Financial Freedom."

    • Curb your spending. Be able to account for every dollar you spend.
    • Cancel credit cards. Cut up all but one or two so you can't use them so you can pay them off.
    • Only keep credit cards with low interest rates and no annual fee.
    • Track where your money is going every month. Cut back on all extras like magazine subscriptions, call waiting, extra cable channels.
    • Look for lower rates on TV service, cell phone service, Internet service, auto insurance.
    • Pay cash whenever possible.
    • Don't borrow money to pay off debts. Home equity loans can put you even deeper in the hole.
    • Make a list of your debts, then pay them off in order of the smallest debt to the largest. Once you get the small ones paid off apply that amount to the next smallest debt and keep moving up the ladder like that until all debts are paid.
    • Pay off outstanding car, bank and mortgage loans quicker by doubling up on payments and attacking the principal amount.
    • Call your creditors and ask if they'll discount what you owe. If you can offer a lump-sum payment, they'll sometimes settle for as little as 50 cents on a dollar.

  • Oprah Winfrey Network

    Oprah4/9/10

Today I'm thinking about "Oprah's Next Chapter". After ruling daytime television for a quarter-century Oprah is starting her own cable channel OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network). We learned yesterday that Shania Twain will have her own reality show on the network (you can read about that on the GCM Behind the Mic Blog). Today we learn that Oprah will have her own show called "Oprah's Next Chapter" which will release her from the confines of a studio and allow her to host conversations and travel around the world. "I'll do it anywhere, I'll do it anytime, with anybody I want," she said. The show is expected to air 2 or 3 nights a week and begin in late 2011.

OWN will go live January 1, 2011.

Big mikeToday I'm thinking about how mad I am at America! No not over the health care bill, over American Idol of course. How in the world could America vote Tim Urban safe and send Big Mike Lynche packing?

Last night on the show the bottom 3 were all guys (for the first time since we got into the top 12), Michael Lynche, Andrew Garcia and Aaron Kelly. I wasn't surprised to see Andrew and Aaron there, but BIG MIKE? He's pretty much awesome! He's so big and sweet you just wanna hug him. I think it's so sweet too that he and his little tiny wife are high school sweethearts.

Well once Ryan announced who was in danger of going home unless the judges agreed unanimously to use their one save for the season I just about jumped through the roof! I couldn't believe that Michael Lynche actually came out of Ryan's mouth! While Big Mike sang is heart out (hear the clip below) the judges discussed and debated frantically. Once Michael finished singing it was time for Simon to reveal the judges decision, would Michael Lynche stay or would he go? Simon reminded us that there is only one save allowed for the entire season and said the judge's decision was in fact unanimous, "We have decided we're going to see you next week!" And just as Simon said that my DVR recording stopped. I'm so glad he got the word stay out before my DVR stopped recording or I would've been so angry! Not knowing whether or not they used the save.

I'm so happy they used the one and only save on Big Mike, but oh man will I be mad they used it on him if Crystal ends up going home next week. I think they made the right decision because I think Big Mike could be in the final 4. What do you think? (comment below)

I'm thinking of starting a "STOP VOTING FOR TIM URBAN" group on Facebook. That kid needs to go home he doesn't have the talent, but apparently does have the look.

  • Extreme Makeover Home Edition's Extreme Mistake

    Posted by Nikki Montgomery

    4/7/10

Today I'm thinking about Extreme Makeover Home Edition's extreme mistake. Ty Pennington and his team of contractors, designers and volunteers come to the rescue of families in need of better living conditions. They find families with incredible stories of selflessness, who literally ignore their own needs to satisfy the needs of others. In exchange for all they've given up the show comes in and turns their deteriorating home into a luxurious mansion like the one featured in the video below.

But here's the mistake, these families can't afford to live in these over-sized homes. The Journal reports that some people are tapping the equity on their expansive new homes, only to fall behind -- and into foreclosure.

The homeowners in many cases find themselves struggling to keep up with increased utility bills and bigger tax assessments.

The producers of the show have decided to make some changes. New homes will be smaller, between 2,800 and 3,000 square feet. Additions like swimming pools will only be added if the family has physical therapy needs and the show will add solar paneling and low-flow toilets to offset costs.

Tracy Hutson, an interior designer who has been with Extreme Makeover since the beginning, says, "I think our hearts were in the right place, but we just got carried away. It can be extreme without being the biggest house you've ever seen."

This show is one that's sure to make you cry. It's such a great concept, that many country artists have appeared on the show including Kellie Pickler, Trace Adkins and Clint Black.

The feel good element won't go away downsizing the homes. It's the effort that makes the show so great. Keep up the good work Extreme team!

    4/6/10

tori spellingToday I'm thinking about Tori Spelling and her husband Dean McDermott. Tori and Dean's reality show, "Tori & Dean Home Sweet Hollywood," premiered last night and apparently the footage that started running on Oxygen sparked rumors that the couple is splitting. Tori told the Today show, "We're not headed for divorce. We're committed to each other, we're committed to this family. But you know, we work on things like everyone else."

The footage from the show showed the two feuding, but Tori says, "We have our fights. We have our ups and downs. It's a real relationship." She adds, "Some issues have come up this season, and the cameras were there to catch it. And I'm happy to put that out there to my fans, because we're a normal, relatable couple. We're not perfect, and things happen."

Tori and Dean may not be heading for divorce, but another Hollywood couple is filing papers.

To no one's surprise Radaronline.com reports that it's only a matter of time before Sandra Bullock files for divorce from cheating husband Jesse James. According to insiders, Sandra has already prepared divorce papers and is ready to proceed with ending their 5 year marriage.

Jesse who was in an Arizona rehab clinic apparently checked himself out over the weekend after Sandra refused to take his call and moved some of her things out of their house. Radar online reports that Jesse will return to the clinic.

Radar online reports that the pre-nup states that Jesse gets nothing from Sandra if she can prove he was unfaithful, which won't be hard.

Though Sandra has made it clear that she has no intention of reconciling Jesse hopes they can work through this if he continues in his rehab program. His attorney Joe Yanny tells People, "He wants to save his marriage with the woman he loves more than anything in his life."

Actions speak louder than words there Jesse. Since the story of the first mistress broke, 4 others have come forward claiming affairs with the married daredevil.

Sandra found out about the first affair after someone from the magazine called her publicist to warn her of the interview with Michelle Bomshell McGee. That day Sandra moved out.

Sandra isn't the only one upset over McGee. Remember Hailey Glassman? She was Jon Gosselin's girlfriend that he flaunted immediately after Jon and Kate announced they were splitting up? She is also the daughter of Kate's tummy tuck surgeon. Hailey is scheduled to box adult film star Gina Lynn on May 7th. When she agreed to do this she was told the ref would be some random person, but Hailey says, "Next thing I know it's this girl with a swastika tattoo and a Nazi arm band," Michelle Bomshell McGee. That doesn't sit well with the young Jewish girl who says, "She stands for trash. If I had known that garbage like Michelle Bombshell was going to be involved I never would have agreed to it." Sure because fighting an adult film star is so classy!

  • Kate Gosselin crushing on the competition?

    Posted by Nikki Montgomery

    4/5/10

Today I'm thinking about Kate Gosselin, wondering if she's really dancing for her kids or is she dancing for a date?

Kate has been pleading for votes from other moms to stay on "Dancing with the Stars" for which she reportedly gets $200,000 to appear.

The 35 year old mother of 8 says she's hurt by criticism that she spends too much time away from her children in order to be a celebrity.

"That just does me in. Any work that comes my way -- and this job [on 'Dancing'] is most cost effective," Gosselin said. "If it could all go away because I was financially set and I could stay home and bake and cook from scratch, I'd like to do that. I'd so be there."

  • Critics tear Jen apart

    Posted by Nikki Montgomery

    jen4/3/10

I'm thinkin again. I'm thinking this is totally unfair.

The critics are slamming Jennifer Aniston so badly over the "Bounty Hunter," but that's not all, they're also attacking her love life!

Several critics think she may want to reconsider the whole movie star thing. "Aniston just can't play the good friend anymore," one critic told the New York Post. "She's aged out, no matter the yoga and the highlights. She just can't do America's sweetheart next door. She needs a big wake-up call." Another insider seems to think the problem is Jen's attempt at going from TV to movies. "It's hard for any TV star to make the transition," said the insider. "Certainly no one else from Friends made it." One critic threw in, "And as for her taste in men, it's totally off. John Mayer? Gerard Butler? She's missing a common-sense gene."

WOW! I mean it's their job to be critical I understand, but some of this is downright mean! Personally I think Jen looks great for her age. Actually she looks great for any age. Maybe she's just been playing the wrong parts. She is not an Oscar winning type actress (though no one though Sandra Bullock was either and they all have egg on their face now), but she is a talented actress. She's perfect for romantic comedies. As for her taste in men OK she's a little off there and no one can deny that.

Do you think the critics are right about Jennifer Aniston.

  • Darius Rucker judge for Idol?

    Posted by Nikki Montgomery

    darius rucker4/2/10

Today I'm thinking about Darius Rucker judging American Idol.

Darius Rucker loves American Idol. He told OK! Magazine that it's a family event, "We watch American Idol religiously. I love the people who are good, and I love the people who aren't good!"

As for the people who are really really bad that you see during the auditions, he says you can't hold it against the horrible singer, you should be mad at the people in their lives that told them they were good. I know whenever I watch the auditions and someone says they know they're a good singer because their mom said they were I just think your mom is mean! I know as a parent sometimes you lie to spare your child's feelings, but then when they intend to go on national TV you need to spare them the embarrassment because that's way worse.

We all know that Simon Cowell is calling it quits after this season, would Darius consider taking his place? "I think I'd be a great judge," said Darius, "I don't think my friends think I'd be great because I've been told I'd be too nice. But I think I'd be great because I like a lot of different things. You can play a Frank Sinatra tune, and I'll sing it. You can play a Hank Williams tune, and I'll sing it. Play and R.E.M. tune, and I'll sing it. I've had a little bit of success in this business. I think I'd be an alright judge."

Darius says he's pulling for Andrew Garcia this season. That makes me question is judging ability :)
