5/13/10 Today I'm thinking of Big Mike. Here is Ellen's reaction to Michael Lynche getting voted off American Idol:
I'm with Ellen. I'm glad the judges saved him too. He lasted 5 weeks beyond that night and he got a chance to show us more of his talent. I like Big Mike I think he's a big teddy bear and I just wanna hug him.
After saying goodbye to Michael Lynche we are down to the top 3; Casey James, Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze. The top three get to visit home with a camera crew and a huge homecoming party. Lee is heading back to Chicago and very excited to see his friends, Crystal is excited to see her family and Casey is happy to be going back to Texas where he can hear a lot of people say "y'all".
I think Casey will be the next to go and Lee is going to put up a fight, but Crystal will still walk away as Season 9's winner.
I have heard many comments from people about their disappointment in this year's contestants. In my opinion it's not that the contestants are less talented than they have been in past years it's just that they're different. None of them are pop stars, Katie Stevens was the closest thing to a pop star this season had seen. The rest of the contestants are more alternative for the lack of a better term. I like that. I think it just shows the show's diversity that it can be a starting point for a career no matter what kind of music you want to perform. Crystal Bowersox will probably win, but she won't sell as many albums as Kelly Clarkson because she's not going to be catering to the same audience. She'll have a successful career because of a core group of fans. Lee DeWyze will probably be a rocker like Daughtry and Casey will probably go country so he can hear people say y'all.
At this point the show's future is still up in the air. The producers are saying they don't intend to announce Simon's replacement until after this season wraps in a couple of weeks. The ratings for the show have been disappointing compared to previous seasons so maybe they'll just call Season 9 the final Idol season. I guess we'll see.
5/13/10 Today I'm thinking of Big Mike. Here is Ellen's reaction to Michael Lynche getting voted off American Idol:
Newscasts gone bad:
Oh, but wait it gets worse!
Today I'm thinking about the rumor saying Lee DeWyze and Siobhan Magnus are in love.
In a recent interview with OK! Magazine Siobhan Magnus, American Idol finalist who was sent home two weeks ago, opened up about her experience on the show.
When asked about her rumored romantic link to Lee DeWyze she said they're just friends, "No...no I have a boyfriend. There’s a lot of rumors, because, you know, because people saying things online. He’s one of my best friends, not just on the show but in my life. And you know of all the many reasons I’m grateful I tried out for the show, way up there on my list is that I made a friend like Lee, and I know that we’ll always be friends and well share something that a lot of people — most people — don’t experience."
In other Idol romance news, American Idol judge Simon Cowell announced earlier this year that he and American Idol make up artist Mezhgan Hussainy are tying the knot. When asked whether or not they'll have children Simon responds, "I'm kind of torn because I'm a bit too old to have kids, but then again I think it would be important to have a lot more of me's around in the future."
Today I'm thinking American Idol...are you surprised? I didn't think so.
Jamie Foxx was this week's mentor invited back for the second year in a row. The top 4 Idols performed songs from the movies.
Lee DeWyze started off the night with Seal "Kiss From a Rose" from Batman Forever it wasn't great, but it was not bad enough to send him home. Randy agreed with me that it was just okay, Ellen thought he could've done more with it, Kara said she can still hear him on the radio despite the fact that he got lost at times, and Simon thought it was karaoke.
Michael Lynche followed Lee with "Will You Be There" by Michael Jackson from Free Willy. The best part of this performance was when it was over Simon was completely lost because he had never heard of the movie. Randy thought Mike's performance was just alright, Ellen said it was too predictable, Kara thought he played it safe, and Simon didn't know what was going on. I predict he will be packing his bags tonight.
After Michael's performance it was time for the first duet, Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze. They sang "Falling Slowly" by Glen Hansard and Marketa Orglova and it was the highlight of the night. This is the performance that saved Lee from being in danger of going home. (listen below)
Continuing the competition Casey James took the stage to sing "Mrs. Robinson" by Simon & Garfunkel from The Graduate. Yet another movie that Simon hasn't seen so when Randy asked Casey if the song had anything to do with Kara Simon didn't fully understand what he was getting at. Ellen glazed right over that comment and simply said she liked it, Kara tried explaining to Simon what the movie was about and why Randy made the comment he did about Kara being Mrs. Robinson and Simon simply thought it was lazy.
Crystal Bowersox was the final solo performance of the evening and talk about ending on a high note. She sang "I'm All Right" by Kenny Loggins from Caddy Shack. Randy thought she did a nice job, Ellen loved how she made the song better, Kara agreed with Ellen and Simon liked it too.
Micheal & Casey ended the show with their duet "Have you Ever Really Loved a Woman" by Bryan Adams which was good. Randy loved it, Ellen simply replied that she has in fact loved a woman, Kara noted that the duets were the best performances of the evening and Simon agreed.
Today I'm thinking about Mike Tyson on The View.
Mike Tyson had been out of sight for some time before he showed up in The Hangover. Apparently during that down time he had a chance to rebuild himself. He opened up to the ladies of The View during an interview on Friday about his past, his kids, his wife and his financial situation.
In the interview Mike Tyson revealed, "I have an awesome life, I have an awesome wife who cares about me. But, I'm totally broke."
I guess it's a good thing for him that he landed a new gig on Animal Planet, a reality show about pigeon racing which is his passion. He cares for 1700 birds, 1100 of them are his own!
Mickey Rourke has problems with certain Hollywood stars that make money without the talent to justify the paycheck. "You can be less than mediocre and be a f-ing movie star. I have respect for very few actors and actresses," the Iron Man 2 star told Parade. "Some of them get a lot of acclaim but just because their movie made $200 million at the box office; they still suck." He says he used to tell those cocky celebs how he felt, but now he just keeps his mouth shut for the sake of his own career.
Perhaps he is talking about some of these young kids in the Twilight and Harry Potter movies who are part of a huge franchise, but haven't done much of anything else.
20 year old Emma Watson, Hermione Granger, in the Harry Potter franchise says she's the worst in her acting class at Brown!
She's one of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood, but she thinks she's the worst student in her college acting class she tells Vanity Fair.
Besides that she says she had a hard time adjusting to live at Brown University in Rhode Island. She tells Vanity Fair, "The first week was just awful. I was like, 'I must be mad. Why am I doing this?' I was scared before I came to Brown that I wasn't going to be allowed to have both (a career and a normal life). People would think that I didn't deserve to have both. (I was afraid they'd think), 'You're famous. You're given free handbags. Why should you deserve to be normal?"
After her first year she explains she was able to settle into college life after finding a roommate who didn't care about Harry Potter, and meeting Rafael Cbrian, an aspiring rock star who became her boyfriend. She soon found her place, and even joined in the college fun by attending a frat party: "I felt like I'd walked into an American teen movie. I picked up the red cups. I was like, 'Wow, they really do drink from these.'" (Teen Hollywood)
Today I'm thinking about cheating husbands kicking themselves.
Mel Gibson left his wife of 30 years, Robyn, for his pregnant mistress, Oksana Grigorieva. Mel split from his baby mama last month and apparently is full of regret for leaving Robyn, the mother of his other 7 children. A source explains, "He's still in love with Robyn, he realizes he made a huge mistake leaving her. Robyn is not only the mother of his 7 children, she's been a major source of strength for Mel throughout his life. Without her around we're worried he'll fall to pieces." (Perez Hilton)
Do you think Robyn should take Mel back? (comment below)
"Bones" star David Boreanaz's wife, Jaime Bergman, is willing to try to repair their marriage after learning that her husband of nearly nine years was unfaithful. "I'm not saying everything's okay," says Bergman. "I'm still angry. I'm still mad. I am still hurt." Jaime and David, who are parents to, Jaden 8, and Bella, 8 months, have been working through their issues for the past year with the help of therapy. (People)
Today I'm thinking about June 30th. June 30th is the release date for the 3rd installment of the Twilight saga, Eclipse. I'm so jealous of a bunch of fans who got to see Eclipse at a special screening with Oprah Winfrey this week. Though they were sworn to secrecy one fan tweeted, "I just saw Eclipse. Oh my [expletive] god. Best movie I have ever seen. The fight scenes the love scenes oh my god." Another tweeted, "Eclipse left me speechless...I couldn't contain myself. Everyone should be GLAD the movie turned out AMAZING." The sneak preview audience also attended a taping of the Oprah Winfrey Show with the movie's Stars Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart. The Oprah episode airs May 13th.
While we're on the topic of the stars of the film lets talk about Kristen Stewart who plays Bella in the Twilight Saga. K-Stew looks like the most miserable person alive pretty much everywhere you see her. At first I thought it was just because her character, Bella, was supposed to be miserable in the first and second movie so she was trying to look the part, but she offers a little insight in the June issue of Elle. "People say I'm miserable all the time," said Stewart, "It's not that I'm miserable. It's just that somebody's yelling at me...I literally, sometimes, have to keep myself from crying," on the red carpet. "It's a physical reaction to the energy that's thrown at you." As for award shows and late night talk shows she's nervous and uncomfortable. She admits she resents losing her privacy to worldwide fame, "Somebody knocked on my hotel room door and asked for a light, then said that they were a big fan. I was like, 'Do you really need me to light your cigarette? How do you know what room I'm in?' I can't be by myself and I like being by myself." When asked about her relationship with co-star Robert Pattinson she says, "I would never cheapen my relationships by talking about them. People say, 'Just say who you're dating. Then people will stop being so ravenous about it.' It's like, No they won't! They'll ask for specifics."
Robert Pattinson has the same opinion of fame. I guess that's why they make a good couple...or friends...or whatever.
Today I'm thinking about American Idol and how crazy it is to me that Big Mike was in the bottom two over Casey James! Casey was by far the worst performer of the night. Aaron Kelly was the contestant sent packing. Here's Ellen's reaction:
Today I'm thinking that there's a new front-runner on American Idol. Crystal has had the title of front-runner since the beginning of the competition, but after the last two weeks she's been bumped from the top by the handsome Lee DeWyze, who received my Most Improved Player award a few weeks ago. The shy guy has confidence now and that's all he really needed, because he has the voice to win. Listen to the clip below to hear him perform "That's Life." All the judges loved him, Kara and Ellen both said he could win this competition.
Harry Connick Jr. Was the mentor for Frank Sinatra week. I love him! Josh cracked me up when he said, "He's a singer?" Josh only knows him as an actor from Independence Day, not even in a lead role like Hope Floats.
Harry was great, funny as usual and extremely helpful to the contestants. He even composed the arrangements for each one of them. "I expressed interest in writing the arrangements and orchestrations for the contestants, because I thought it would really be cool, ya know, to have something in connection with these guys," Harry said.
It really was cool. Unfortunately it didn't work out great for everyone.
Aaron Kelly started the night off with no real flare. Randy thought he did a good job, Kara thought he needed to fill up the stage more, and Simon thought it was a bit corny. I think he'll be in the bottom 3 tonight.
Casey James was the worst performance of the night singing "Blue Skies." None of the judges had a good thing to say. I think this may be the end of the road for him.
Crystal Bowersox again didn't do it for me with her performance of "Summer Wind." Though it was a million times better than Casey and Aaron it still wasn't the amazing performance I've come to expect from Mama Sox. Randy thought it was sleepy, Ellen loved seeing another side of her, Kara liked it and Simon told her she needs to step it up next week. She may be in danger of being in the bottom three this week.
Michael Lynche was back in his element singing "The Way You Look Tonight." Randy loved it and said it showed that he's in it to win it, Ellen said he looked the part and sounded the part, Kara loved how he took the audience on a journey and Simon thought it was fantastic. I LOVED IT!
Micheal and Lee were definitely the top two performers last night. We'll find out who the bottom 3 are and who's going home tonight on Fox.
Today I'm thinking about American Idol of course, but before we get into that I just heard some interesting news about former American Idol judge Paula Abdul. If you've been wondering why she hasn't landed a gig here's your answer.
Paula Abdul has been offered plenty of jobs, but it turns out she's a bit of a DIVA. She's been offered jobs on two talent shows ABC's Star Search remake and Simon Cowell's next project (which he's leaving Idol for) The X Factor on Fox. Apparently the deals just can't be made because Paula has such outrageous demands. The Chicago Sun-Times claims she's been asking for offices, decorated dressing rooms, a large entourage of publicists, as well as hair stylists and make-up artists that would be available to her at all times. "The added costs are scaring producers," said a source. An X Factor source claims Paula also asked for a wardrobe allowance that, "would cost more than what most shows provide an entire cast."
There have been some discussions about possibly bringing Paula back to the Idol judges panel when Simon leaves, but I just don't see that happening if she's being such a diva. Idol is already seeing a decrease in ratings in Simon's final season, they can't possibly expect to cover all of her demands and be happy with the results.
Today I'm thinking about how some of my favorite guys turn out to be so sleazy!
The only thing that even slightly interested me about golf was Tiger Woods, I was a huge fan of Jesse James being the motorcycle enthusiast I am, and I have loved pretty much everything that David Boreanaz has ever done up until now.
David Boreanaz stars as Seeley Booth on the hit Fox show "Bones", super hot FBI agent who has the hots for his super smart anthropologist partner, Dr. Temperance Brennan AKA Bones. Love the show love his character, but not loving him after hearing that he is just another on the growing list of unfaithful husbands.
Boreanaz has been married to Playmate, Jaime Bergman for 9 years and yesterday, in a statement to People, admitted to being unfaithful to her. "Our marriage has been tainted with my infidelities," he said. "I just want to be open and honest. I was irresponsible." The actor decided to come forward after a former mistress contacted and attorney and threatened to go to the media. "I was associated with a woman who I was involved with and had a relationship with," he says. "She asked for money. I felt as though I was being blackmailed or there was some sort of extortion." While he wouldn't name the mistress, last year when the Tiger Woods story broke Boreanaz had been linked to Rachel Uchitel one of Tiger's mistresses. TMZ reports that it was Uchitel's lawyer Gloria Allred (whose name keeps coming up in these scandals) who contacted Boreanaz's lawyer, allegedly asking for six figures to keep quiet. According to TMZ, Boreanaz hooked up with the unidentified woman "2 or 3 times." He paid her money here and there, but when she started demanding more he decided to confess everything to his wife. He tells People, "We're working on our marriage. We're working on repairing what has been damaged so badly."
Good luck on that! Hasn't worked out well for the other cheating husbands.
