  • Potty training time...Check out the iPotty

    Posted by Nikki Montgomery

    iPotty

We are introducing Mia to the potty. We have a fun potty chair that sings when she uses it.  We've set her on it a few times before baths, but she has yet to actually go on it. The other night we were getting her ready for her bath so we stripped her down and set her on it. Josh was getting the bath ready and I stepped out of the bathroom to grab her pajamas, all of a sudden Josh turned around and here Mia was standing up peeing on the floor! So she just doesn't quite get it yet LOL. She is only 16 months old though so I guess I can't be too disappointed in it.

She may stay seated longer if she had one of these iPotty chairs. Mia already spends too much time playing with our smart phones and tablets. Doctors say that's not good, that we should limit screen time, but it's so hard to keep them away from her when we always have them within arms reach.

What do you think about the iPotty?

How old was your child when you started potty training? How old was your child when they got it?

Bryan wants one for adults. Apparently he's not alone check out the urinal gaming system on the Bryan and Nikki Blog.

    kids cleaning

Okay so Mia is too little to clean her own room, but I remember this from when I was a kid. I know this is what I have to look forward to.

How do you get your kids to clean up? Do you ever bribe them?

  • Mia's first Easter Egg Hunt

    Posted by Nikki Montgomery

easterMy mom played the Easter Bunny for the kids this past Sunday. She hid Hayden's eggs downstairs because he's 6 so his eggs had candy in them. She hid Mia's eggs upstairs and they were filled with little toys. Mia first watched Hayden find all his eggs then we came upstairs and Nana handed her a bucket and she started picking up eggs. Well she picked up one and thought she was done so we had to show her that there were more. She was so funny because even though she had a bucket she wanted to carry the eggs in her hands. When she saw that the eggs opened and there were toys inside she got very excited. It was so cute.

More Easter fun next weekend. This may become Mia's favorite holiday if she gets to do it two weekends in a row :)

Do you think Mia is too young at 16 months for a traditional Easter Egg Hunt?

  • Easter baskets for Toddlers

    Easter basket

Mia is 16 months old and I ordered her a prefilled easter basket. Unfortunately now that I'm looking at it she can only have a couple things inside it because she only has 10 teeth. Wondering what are some good things to put in an easter basket for a toddler?

  • My little monkey

    mia climber

My sister sent me this picture the other day while she was watching Mia. My little girl is quite the climber. She is at the stage where she moves things around to stand on them. Anything within reach that may or may not be sturdy enough to hold her she climbs on.

Falling doesn't stop her it just slows her down. The thing that makes me most nervous is when she stands up in her high chair. I don't know how, but even if we buckle her in she manages to wiggle out and stand up.

She hasn't climbed out of her crib yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if that happens any day now. We are going to move her to a toddler bed very soon, but we have to get a better gate for the top of the stairs first. We have a pressure gate right now, but I would like one that screws into the wall. Any suggestions on brands or even where to buy a good gate for the top of the stairs?

  • My little fashionista

    Fashionista

Oh how fun it is to have a little girl and dress her her adorable clothes. Look how cute this jacket and hat are that I found at TJ Maxx. She's a little fashionista...or maxxinista :) I loved it so much I bought one in brown for our babysitter's daughter.

Tutus and bows and adorable little dresses there's nothing better than dressing a girl. I won't know what to do if we ever have a boy.

  • Oz The Great and Powerful tops box office

    Posted by Nikki Montgomery

ozOz the Great and Powerful tops the box office at $80.3 Million.

My husband and I went to the theater on Saturday night to see Oz the Great and Powerful. I loved that the previews don't give anything away.

The Disney movie stars James Franco, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, Zach Braff, and Michelle Williams and tells the story of Oz's journey to Oz.

The king of Oz is dead and the prophecy said that a wizard of the same name would come save Oz. Three witches stand between Oz and the throne and he doesn't know which witch to trust.

My mom and sister plan on taking my 6 year old nephew to see it, but are a little worried that it might be too scary for him. The original was scary when the flying monkeys came and they ripped the scarecrow apart, but in this movie the flying baboons are heard, but not seen until the scene in which they are defeated. All in all I don't think it's too scary for him and I think the PG rating is appropriate.

At what age did you let your child watch their first PG13 movie?

  • A girl and her dog

    Mia and Mookie

I was a little worried before Mia was born about how my dogs would react to her especially once she started running around. They always did fine around my young nephews, mostly because they tried to keep their distance. There is no getting away from Mia though. Good thing the dogs don't mind. They let her pinch them, touch their faces, hit them on top of the head, pull their tails, and snuggle them. Mia especially likes to cuddle with Mookie our Puggle.

If we are out somewhere we kennel the dogs so when we get home Mia can't wait to let the dogs out. When we open the kennel doors she laughs and laughs as the dogs come running out and run around the dining room.

It is so awesome that she loves them so much and they love her too.

Do you have any cute stories of your children and pets?
